活动简介

The Gordon Research Seminar on Quantitative Genetics and Genomics is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. The meeting will provide the opportunity for young investigators from the fields of human, animal, plant and model organism genetics and genomics to interact with each other and with current leaders in these fields.

The focus of this meeting is the context-dependency of associations between genetic and phenotypic variation. Context includes but is not limited to population/genetic background, physical, chemical, and psychological environment, developmental phase, tissue, and cell type. We will discuss how understanding the context dependency of genetic associations can be used for fundamental understanding of biology and its use in artificial selection and medicine. Statistical, computational, and experimental methods will be presented.

A mentoring lunch will be organized on the second day. Small groups composed of a few attendees plus one of the panel speakers will discuss topics related to careers in quantitative genetics.

Available Funding Programs: GRC offers two funding programs, the Carl Storm International Diversity (CSID) Fellowship and the Predominately Undergraduate Institution (PUI) Fund that are Chair-nominated. Please note, there are a very limited number available per conference, so please contact the Chair directly for further information if you believe you may be eligible.
