Despite considerable improvements in seismic data quality and imaging algorithms, velocities and earth models remain the key challenge for depth prediction. In this one-day workshop we focus on some aspects of reducing uncertainties in velocities, including applications of seismic imaging, velocity model building, azimuthal processing, depth conversion and drilling uncertainties. The presentations represent a broad cross-section of topics selected from the recent EAGE hosted depth uncertainty workshop held in Kuala Lumpur. The themes we believe will be of interest to delegates working in the Asia-Pacific region who may not have had the opportunity to travel to Kuala Lumpur to attend the 3-day workshop earlier this year. We hope you take this alternate opportunity to be involved in this workshop and enhance our industry’s progression towards reducing depth uncertainty in exploration geophysics applications.
