I am pleased to welcome you to the 1st International Electronic Conference on Water Sciences (ECWS-1).
As this is the first electronic conference in water sciences (ECWS), we decided to offer a wide range of topics mostly related to the quality of water and the public supply of safe drinking water obtained from various resources. During the last few decades great improvements have been made to provide water of high quality to the public in most parts of the world. However, the increasing use of groundwater to supply sufficient water for an increasing world population is challenging and sometimes creates new risks. The problem of arsenic in the groundwater of Bangladesh and many other countries is only one example. The overall aim of the conference is to stimulate scientific exchange and discussion on all aspects that help to supply sufficient water of high quality to consumers.
Sciforum.net is a platform developed by MDPI, and sponsored by the open access journal Water, to organize electronic conferences, and to provide our community with technical support for hosting our digital conferences. This platform was created in response to the high demand from our community who might not always have the time or financial resources needed to participate physically in high quality scientific events.
ECWS provides participants with the unique opportunity to disseminate their knowledge and latest research findings in the materials field among their peers in an open forum, and immediately receive rich feedback from the virtual audience towards their future research directions.
The participation is free of charge—both for authors and attendees. Accepted papers will be collated in the proceedings of the conference, and selected papers will be published in the journal water, through invitation from the ECWS-1 conference chair.
I am very enthusiastic about this e-conference and am relying on all of you to make it a successful event.
