Sustaining well pad costs can comprise between 70% and 80% of the total lifecycle capital of an in-situ oil sands project. These costs have grown significantly over the last ten years and are putting production volumes at risk from our existing and future projects.
This is a major risk to the competitiveness of Canadian oil sands in the global marketplace At the current cost structure many projects are not economically viable. The Canadian industry needs to be proactive in collaborating to reduce the lifecycle cost of wellpads in order to remain competitive in the world marketplace.
WORKSHOP FOCUS AND OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of this one-day workshop is to bring together operators, service companies, research bodies, regulatory authorities and other interested parties, in an open and collaborative environment to discuss the asset lifecycle of a pad development from the reservoir characterization to installation, design and operations. The targeted outcome is to identify primary cost drivers and opportunities for cost reduction while still meeting design intent and without jeopardizing health, safety, or the environment.
