Resourcing the ever-growing oil and gas industry with talented skill pools to deliver business goals is a challenging action of all times. Hydrocarbon communities are on the march to double or triple their production and enhance their reserve-base with diminishing talent supply. This challenge is becoming even more exciting in the recent days due to the change of organisational culture, which forces us to adopt the notion of “employ very fast, train very fast, and loose very fast” in reflection to the current dynamics of competitive employment markets. When our best talents diffuse into the resource-pulling grounds, not only we lose talents but also their experience and knowledge. Hence, the need to embrace innovative strategies in order to build our organisational capacity and manage the acquisition, diffusion and exploitation of business knowledge is urgently required.
It is envisaged that the challenge-spectrum traverses a wide range of issues, starting from technical and leadership concerns, passing through business partnering and operational practices concerns, and all the way through to Lean processes, knowledge, and talent management concerns. This pack of challenges create a thrust in building dynamic leaders for today and tomorrow, hand-in-hand with the thrust of building competent workforce that is aligned with business growth aspirations.
This workshop is dedicated to bring all these challenges on the surface, with prominent oil and gas professionals, blended with a wide range of human resource and business related speakers from operating and service companies. The puzzle to resolve is how to build our organisational capacity and retain our critical knowledge for business continuity, given that we are losing our experienced talents and replacing them with competent but less experience generations.
