Considering a series of evolutionary innovation over the past decades, a new paradigm - Ubi-Media Computing (UMEDIA), as it is bravely defined, is initialized and primarily concentrates on the exploration of challenging issues regarding the potential union of ubiquitous computing and communication media for well-being of human beings. Given its multi-disciplinary nature, UMEDIA has attempted to attract a broad range of audience in the past 5 years. UMEDIA 2013 welcomes original, high-quality research contributions that touch all aspects, e.g., theory, system and applications, of Ubi-Media Computing, and furthermore, explore potential research issues due to its promising new business opportunity in information technology and engineering. It will provide the researchers and practitioners opportunities to present, discuss on creation of potential new media using ubiquitous technologies, such as controlling a verity of medias thought ubiquitous embedded devices, providing ubiquitous support though various medias, and achieving context information by observing usage of various media
