Today’s internet is almost wholly dependent on data originated by limited accuracy, time, and attention humans. If computers can access to accurate information about things, they would be able to count, track, and predict everything. If everything is connected to internet, the gap between our physical world and cyberspace will be reduced.
Research activities are being conducted in this framework to solve issues related to embedded equipment design, resource-constrained media communications, security, data analysis, services, etc. Thus, novel solutions are needed and research is still underway.
The main goal of SmartNets 2022 conference is then to gather experts and researchers working on the topic to present and debate next challenges and new solutions that will make possible the development of a framework connecting everything.
It aims to bring together Academia (researchers and academics from top Universities and research institutes) and industry (techology companies, vendors and telecommunications providers) to:
– Share the latest research findings
– Address challenges in the digital transformation for the industry (i.e. cyber security)
– Present the future of latest wireless communications technologies (including 5G and IoT) and their potential opportunities in the utilities sector.
– Exchange experiences to implementing secure and reliable communications services.
– to cover theoretical and practical aspects related to the Future of the Internet, the Internet of Things, Smart Cities and Smart Factories.
This year, the multi-thematic program focuses on the major future scientific issues for the following scientific topics, divided into the following main tracks:
– Industry 4.0; The connected Factory
– Smart Cities and Internet of Everything
– Smart Healthcare Systems
– Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning
– Edge, Fog and Cloud Computing for Internet of Things
– Next Generation Networks and CPS
– Security and Privacy for Smart IoT and CPS
– Cyber Security for Critical Infrastructure and Industrial Applications
– 5G for Industrial Applications
– Communication technologies for Smart grids and Energy management
– Integrated Satellite and Terrestrial Wireless Networks for IoT
SmartNets 2022 will be held hybrid from November 29th to December 1st 2022, in the beautiful city of Palapye, Botswana.
The target audience is the decision makers and influencers in the Industry and Academia that ranges from Senior researchers to Ph.D. and Master students. Researchers and engineers from companies are welcome, and may greatly benefit from the broad vision provided by this event.

Prospective authors are invited to submit to the related tracks via the online EDAS system: https://edas.info/N29092
All submission should be in IEEE PDF format.
1) Full or Short Paper Submission:
Full papers should describe novel research contributions with evaluation results and are limited to six (6) printed pages (10-point font) including figures, references and appendices (two additional pages are allowed with a per-page extra fee).
Short papers, limited in length to four (4) pages, should be more visionary in nature and are meant to discuss new challenges and visions, showcase early research results, and explore novel research directions.
Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements.
All submitted papers must be unpublished and not considered elsewhere for publication, should be written in English and formatted according to IEEE Template. IEEE specification based Latex and MS-Word templates for paper submission are available here (http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html).
The program committee may designate some accepted paper to the conference as SmartNets-2022 Best Papers. Every submission automatically eligible for this award. Each author on each of the selected papers will receive a certificate to be awarded at the award dinner banquet. Please note that, IEEE reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference (e.g., removal from IEEE Xplore) if the paper is not presented at the conference.
2) Posters and Demos Abstract Submission:
SmartNets 2022 conference is inviting posters and demos proposals submissions. The posters and demos track of SmartNets provides a forum for late-breaking results, on-going research projects, and innovative ideas, as well as prototypes of semantic technologies and their applications in various domains. Submissions to the posters and demos track may cover all topics of SmartNetsposters and demos will be presented in a separate, interactive session, providing the opportunity for engaging in discussions and direct exchange.
Authors must submit a two-page extended abstract for evaluation. All submissions will undergo a common review process, including those related to already accepted full papers.
