The Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR / AR) section of the Gesellschaft für Informatik eV (GI)aims to promote scientific work in the field of "virtual and augmented reality" and to support the exchange of information among scientists.
Launched 15 years ago by the GI section VR / AR, the workshop is an established platform for sharing information and ideas. Traditionally, once a year, interested people from science and practice meet here. The workshop offers the ideal setting to discuss current results and projects from research and development with a knowledgeable audience. Last but not least, the workshop is an ideal forum to establish and maintain contacts or to get an insight into the latest work on Virtual and Augmented Reality.

As part of the 15th workshop "Virtual and Augmented Reality" of the GI Section VR / AR, we want to give young scientists the opportunity to present their scientific work to a knowledgeable audience. In this circle fall, among other things, ongoing doctoral projects, but also outstanding student work of universities and colleges.
The authors of the best articles will be invited after the workshop to submit an extended version of the article to a special edition of the Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting (JVRB).
Contributions to the workshop are possible in each area of Virtual and Augmented Reality. This includes in particular, but not exclusively:
Scientific papers in the categories Long Contribution (10-12 pages), Short Contribution (6-8 pages) and Posters (up to 4 pages) are available in German or English. The contributions must be uploaded anonymously via the Submission System. The decision on a publication in the workshop volume and a VRAR2018 presentation on the workshop will be made by the program committee (double-blind reviewing).
The printed workshop volume (with ISBN) will be available at cost during the workshop (and afterwards).
This year, bachelor and master graduates will again be invited to submit their theses in the field of VR / AR. The defense of the work should have taken place in 2018 or 2017. The best works will be selected and the authors will have the opportunity to present their work during the workshop in a lecture. For this, the title and the short version of the paper (max 1 DIN A4 page, format: PDF) must be uploaded via the submission system. This page is also in case of success in the proceedings.
