Highly Efficient CMOS Rectifiers for Energy Harvesting from Ambient Radio Waves

Advanced RF rectifiers having threshold voltage compensation mechanism for highly efficient RF-to-DC conversion in RF energy harvesting and wireless power transmission using radio waves are presented. Those include "self-Vth-cancellation" (SVC) rectifier, "photovoltaic-assisted" (PV) rectifier, "PV-assisted SVC" (PV+SVC) rectifier, and "differential-drive" rectifier utilizing active-Vth-compensation. Operation mechanisms and measured performances of these rectifiers are shown.
