Multi-chain positioning algorithm for enhanced Loran system

This paper presents a new multi-chain positioning algorithm for enhanced Loran-C navigation system. Because the enhanced Loran-C system broadcasts the coordinated universal time as launch time, this algorithm uses the time of arrival principle and completes the positioning by Newton iteration and least square method. Compared with the traditional Loran-C hyperbolic positioning algorithm, the new algorithm not only increases the positioning accuracy from 500m to about 25m, but also avoids the major problem of being unable to position because the partial chain signal is not received. Experimental results show the performance of the algorithm and the algorithm can be applied in the GNSS-Loran integrated navigation system.
