The 15th Gordon Research Conference on Glycolipid and Sphingolipid Biology will be held from February 11-16, 2018 at the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas, a lovely secluded seaside venue, which provides an ideal location for scientific discussion. This conference is the primary international venue in the field of glycolipid and sphingolipid biology. Through an interdisciplinary program, all aspects of the biochemistry, biophysics and physiology of glycolipids and sphingolipids will be considered, with a particular emphasis on the clinical relevance of these findings.
The Gordon Research Conference on Glycolipid and Sphingolipid Biology assembles a group of scientists and physicians who are performing cutting edge research to define the roles of these complex and bioactive lipids not only in membrane structure, function and cell regulation, but also in many inflammatory, infectious and autoimmune diseases, including cancer and diabetes. The Gordon Conference is the pre-eminent meeting in the field of glycolipid and sphingolipid biology.
A number of prominent speakers have been invited, but most sessions have time slots reserved for late-breaking topic talks chosen among the submitted abstracts. In the past, the conference has been fully subscribed with an excellent mix of established academic researchers, attendees from industry and young scientists. The poster sessions are an important part of the conference and several young investigators will be chosen to give oral presentations. Ample discussion time will be provided within the sessions and hopefully, during the lovely afternoons on the Gulf of Mexico.
