Recent advances in mobile cloud computing and ubiquitous computing have resulted in rapidly changing associated ecosystems. As users grow more demanding in terms of services, applications, performance and content, the smartphones still lack local resources. Cloud computing platforms such as Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure, and Google App Engine are a natural response to this need for computing resources, scalability, security and manageability. The various concepts of mobile cloud and ubiquitous computing provide a brand new opportunity for the development of mobile cloud technologies, applications, and ecosystems.
Solutions scaffolded with mobile cloud computing as the foundation underpin the need for building new context-aware experiences utilizing mobile content and hardware, cloud based data, sensor integration and cloud-based services. This can facilitate the creation of a new breed of applications, user experiences, and containing ecosystems.
With this workshop we will provide an opportunity for academic and industry professionals to present and discuss the latest research in the area. We also expect that the workshop will be a foundation for further research and technology improvements to build upon in this important subject.
Topics to be discussed in the workshop include (but are not limited to) the following:
Ecosytems for mobile cloud computing
Next generation mobile applications enabled by cloud computing
Context-aware services and computing
Service design and architecture
Mobile cloud computing software development platforms
Data and information management
Distribution of resources and computation in mobile cloud ecosystems
