It is the worst of times, with the whole world facing threats of economic recession, energy shortages, environmental deterioration, and information security. Yet, it is also the best of times, as we scientists from the semiconductor community are working diligently to address these daunting but critical challenges. Now, more than ever, there is a crucial need to have a conference to unite the related scientists around the world to target these global concerns.
The 1st International Semiconductor Conference for Global Challenges (ISCGC 2017) will be held in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. The conference is jointly sponsored by the Electrochemical Society (ECS, USA) and the Chinese Physical Society (CPS), aiming to address the global challenges and opportunities of semiconductor science and technology. We are going to foster a friendly and peaceful atmosphere where junior and senior scientists and engineers can actively discuss and exchange the latest outcome and new ideas tackling the global challenges in semiconductor science and technology. The conference will cover a wide spectrum of semiconductor research areas spanning from growth and characterization, electronic/optoelectronic/power devices and their applications, energy devices and systems. Accordingly, a series of oral and poster sessions will be organized focusing on hot topics and current trends.
A sister conference, The 21st National Semiconductor Physics Conference (SPC-2017), will be held at the same location just after ISCGC-2017. For those who are interested, please visit http://spc2017.csp.escience.cn/ for more details.
The conference venue Nanjing, which is located in Yangtze River Delta area and the center of east China, is a famous historical and cultural city, which has served as the capitals of various Chinese dynasties, kingdoms and republican governments dating from the 3rd century CE to 1949.
