Following the early announcements given at the 2014 EAVLD Congress in Pisa and at the 17th WAVLD Symposium in Saskatoon, we are now inviting all of you to the 18th International Symposium of the World Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians, that will be held in 2017 in Sorrento. This is the second WAVLD Symposium that the Italian Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (SIDiLV) is going to host. Some of you still remember the first we held in 2001 Salsomaggiore (Parma). Sixteen years later we are proud to welcome you again to Sorrrento, one of our best beauties. The location is so attractive that we suggest attending delegates to combine the scientific interest to the tourist opportunity, dedicating to it a few more days of their stay! It has been discussed whether the biannual Symposium was too frequent an event to appeal and catch the attention of colleagues involved at different title and level in the field of diagnosis and veterinary research. Instead, we think that a tight attendance to WAVLD meetings should continue, given the speed of the scientific progress and the need of a direct exchange within the scientific community, beyond the opportunities given by scientific literature. The same consideration applies to the possibility to simultaneously compare the wide range of innovative products that the participating industries will propose. We want everyone who can contribute to the success of the 18th Symposium coming up, with scientific contributions, new suggestions and proposals: we will do our best to deal with them, since our goal is to meet your expectations!
