Due to its lots of advantages, CT20 type spring operating mechanism is widely used in the 126kV high voltage circuit breaker. This type mechanism should not meet the requirement of higher interrupting capacity circuit breaker while the interrupting capacity is increasing. In this situation, sometimes the vibration of the closing latch during closing may cause the closing process failed if there is no corresponding measure taken which can improve the function of the CT20 type spring operating mechanism. To explain the problem, the vibration of the closing latch during closing is chosen as the research point. First, the closing process is analyzed by simulation software. Then the vibration of the closing latch is recorded by the high speed camera. Finally the effect on closing perform caused by the vibration of the closing latch is analyzed and the research result is summarized. The method of reducing the vibration of the closing latch is proposed. From this paper some conclusion can be got: The vibration time of closing latch always continue 10ms which is the key of closing keep process. The amplitude coefficient of the bigger closing latch is 7.6% with that of the smaller one is 28.6%. Closing keep process may fail while amplitude is too big or vibration time is too long.
