The effect of ultrasonic friction reduction has been found for a few decades and been applied in a series of fields, like mechanical design and manufacturing. Meanwhile it has also been successfully tried in the pneumatic cylinders in pneumatic field. This research proposes an equivalent method for the seal-cylinder couple to be unfolded into a rubber bar-steel plate friction couple, in order to help study the frictional condition between pneumatic actuator friction couple. A friction measurement system is established aiming at the equivalent friction couple and the influence of sealing ring diameter, normal force and input voltage of ultrasonic vibrator on friction reduction effect are discussed. This research will contribute to some relative investigations on vibration-assisted friction reduction pneumatic cylinder.
