Real time data transmission and clock synchronization for HILS based on RFM

Real time is one of fundamental characteristics for hardware in the loop simulation (HILS). In this paper, we adopt the fiber reflective memory net (RMN) strategy to ensure the
real-time data transmission and propose a clock synchronization method based on reflective memory card (RFM) interruption to make the simulation process stable. The character of RFM is real-time, delay determinacy and reliability. In order to transmit data among simulation node computers, we package RFM driver into Simulink block which is convenient for VxWorks simulation computer resolving dynamics and kinematics model, and also develop and configure RFM driver on RTX (Real-time Extension of Windows) which is real time operating system for turntable control computer and visual scene computer. When taken reliable RFM interruption working mode into consideration, the clock synchronization method based on the reflective memory interrupt is used to eliminate logical confusion and the data interaction caused by simulation nodes heterogeneity. In this paper, using the high-resolution time of RTX, the data transfer time of reflective memory between VxWorks and RTX is measured and the test result meets the realtime request of data transmission. And with the clock synchronization method, the process of HILS is monitored and controlled, which has improved the accuracy of data transmission and the reliability of simulation result.
