Coded video is subjected to quality degradation when transmitted over network. In this paper, a new adaptive flexible macroblock ordering (FMO) method for error-resilient coding is proposed to deal with this problem. This method could both help prioritized network transmission and make full use of FMO’s inherent error resilience. Based on the previous work’s achievement, new algorithms are advised for both motion region extraction and FMO mode calculation, which are beneficial to enhance coding efficiency as well as error-resilient capability. Experiments prove that new advice performs better than the previous one, and improves the video quality.
