The structure of metal space frame (MSF) has a significance influence on the electromagnetic properties of radomes once the mechanical parameters are determined. In this paper different frame structures along with the effect on scattering characteristics are studied from the perspective of structure division. Through building the MSFs with same mechanical parameters but different structures, two kinds of electromagnetic calculation models which are comparable with each other are established to calculate the scattering field by the method of induced current ratio. By comparing the scattering field distribution in spherical coordinate space, it is shown that parallel struts can make the scattering fields accumulate in same area, which results in the electromagnetic performance deterioration of radome. Arrangement of struts should tend to be random instead of regular or parallel.
