Abstract :

Agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are a critical contributor to global climate change, with livestock farms generating significant multi-component GHGs through complex processes such as manure management. The intricate emission sources and extensive monitoring demands hinder the dense deployment of existing high-cost technologies, resulting in sparse rural monitoring networks. This study proposes a low-cost monitoring framework to address atmospheric pollution challenges in rural areas by integrating multi-source data from ground-, aerial-, and space-based platforms. The framework aims to establish a cost-effective GHG monitoring system tailored to livestock farm environments, enabling dynamic GHG tracking and emission quantification. Key innovations include optimizing participatory sensing system design, refining machine learning algorithms, and calibrating satellite transmission models to enhance spatiotemporal resolution and monitoring accuracy. These advancements provide technical support for GHG emission accounting and mitigation strategy formulation. Current progress involves analyzing seasonal variations in GHG concentrations (from remote sensing data) and conducting spatial comparisons between central farming zones and adjacent fields, validating the reliability of cross-validated multi-source data inversion. This system offers a low-cost solution for precise emission accounting, facilitates regional inventory compilation and emission reduction optimization, and supports the green transformation of the livestock industry under China’s "Dual Carbon" goals (carbon peaking and carbon neutrality).
