Computational Quantum Field Theory and Applications to Strong-Field-Induced Vacuum Breakdown and Pair Creation Processes

Computational Quantum Field Theory [1-2], developed by the authors, is a useful tool 

that allows for space-time resolved analysis of strong-field induced vacuum breakdown 

and the corresponding pair creation processes. The analysis provides interesting 

insights into resolving the Klein paradox [3] and understanding electron spatial location 

[4]. Such a tool has since been further developed to analyze multiple pair creation 

events and the possible coherence properties of these products [5]. The control of the 

pair creation process has been investigated through strong magnetic fields [6], the 

involvement of bound states [7], self-interaction between created particles [8], and 

exploring possible information transport processes [9-10]. Most recently, machine 

learning techniques have been introduced to speed up the computations [11-12]. This 

work has been supported by the US-NSF, the Research Corporation, and NSF-China.
