Pressure-induced Metallization of Pb3Mn7O15

摘要
The multiferroic material Pb3Mn7O15 (PMO), characterized by mix-valence Mn ions, exhibits high resistivity, hindering its potential application. Previous studies have indicated that the resistivity of PMO is determined by the structure and distribution of Mn ions. In the present study, the resistivity of PMO as a function of pressure was investigated up to 42 GPa. The results reveal a semiconductor-metal transition of PMO during compression, accompanying with crystal structure phase transition. This result indicates PMO is a promising material in multiferroic applications.
