Experimental study on the insulator ring surface electric withstanding characteristics in vacuum under pulsed voltage

摘要
We developed an experimental platform to research the insulator ring surface electric withstanding field under pulsed voltage. The platform included four parts: pulsed power system, trigger system, sample vacuum chamber and testing system. The pulsed power system used the Fast-Marx technology to get the pulsed voltage. The pulsed voltage rise time (0~100%) was about 100 ns, the half voltage time was about 200 ns. The pulsed power system included 10-stage switches and 20 capacitors. The single capacitor capacity was 50 nF. The 95 Ω was selected to load resistance for avoiding the opposite-polarity voltage after main-pulsed voltage. The limit resistance was used to reduce the flashover current across the insulator surface. We used the circuit simulation method to analysis the insulator sample voltage with different parameters. The calculating results shown the sample voltage would be reduced by higher configuration capacity of insulator sample and higher limited load resistance. We carried experimental results indicated that the surface electric withstanding field of 5.2 cm thickness of MC nylon insulator ring which diameter was 1m could exceed about 80 kV/cm.
