The main objective of this paper is to study and determination of circuit parameters & transient circuit analysis using active and passives oscillating method for DC current interruption at medium voltage distribution level. The calculation includes oscillating circuit design in such a way that it induces the current which is in opposite to that of main current and ensure the oscillating current is higher than main current for successful DC current interruption.
Transient network simulation is carried out at +/-5kV DC using ATPDraw for active and passive high frequency oscillation circuit for certain short circuit current and normal load current. Results of active and passive high frequency oscillating current interruption are discussed and compared.
