Preparation and characterization of a mine dust suppressant via response surface methodology

This study determined through sedimentation experiments that the wetting agent components for the optimized formula of dust suppressants are a mixture of 2% TX-100 and 0.5% SDBS solution; Determine the optimized binder component E412 through viscosity measurement experiments; Determine the water retention agent component of the optimized formula as PAAS through water retention experiments; After determining the composite raw materials, fifteen reagent ratios were designed using design expert 13 for the mixture. The settling rate, anti evaporation performance, surface tension, and contact angle values of the reagents on coal dust were experimentally measured. Based on this, response surface analysis was conducted on the four factors affecting the dust suppression effect of the reagents. Based on the response surface results, the optimal ratio was determined as sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate: triton: guar gum: sodium polyacrylate=39.8:53:3.9:3.3. The infrared spectrum results indicate that dust suppressants have a significant impact on the changes in the hydroxyl content of the hydrophilic functional groups in coal dust. The SEM experimental results indicate that the dust suppressant has good wetting and binding effects on coal dust, and the toxicity test shows that the sample does not have the acute inhalation toxicity characteristics of hazardous waste. Dust suppression experiments in similar spaces have shown that the dust suppression efficiency of the reagent is 95.3%, which is 41.8% and 12% higher than that of natural sedimentation and water spraying, respectively.
