High power laser facility demonstrates the capability of four wavelength output for CBET experiments - 周丹丹

In the study of inertial confinment fusion, Crossed-Beam Energy Transfer has been proved to improve drive and symmetry. To achieve this, a lot of efforts were made in our facility for four wavelength output.

The configuration of fiber front-end was upgrated. It provides four independent tunable wavelengthes, in the band of 1nm, making it possible for the facility to send different colors to both inner and outer cones. Besides, a new fail-safe system based on fiber filtering technique was developed for preventing SBS, the detection bandwidth was as much as 1nm.

FM-to-AM conversion is a major concern for multi-color output. To suppress this effect,a quartz birefringent crystal was added to flatten the gain profile of the regenerative preamplifier over a 2-nm band.

The amplification capability of the main amplifier and frequency conversion efficiency were also analysed due to wavelength shift. Results show that our facility can deliever the same energy to the target as before by increasing the gain in the preamplifier and adjusting the phase matching angle of the 3ω crystal.
