The traditional SINEX combination method uses the total adjustment principle to obtain the least-squares solution of the transformation parameters between two frames. However, due to the large amount of data in SINEX files, the complexity of high-dimensional matrix operations affects the efficiency of the traditional combination method. To address the above efficiency problems, this paper proposes a new stepwise combination method for batch combination of SINEX files based on sequential adjustment and using recursive approach. Experiments are conducted to validate and analyze the new method by using the combination of SINEX files under the ITRF2008 framework and EPN framework as a case study. The results show that (1) the solution results obtained by the new method remain consistent with the traditional method, but the computational efficiency is improved by 91%; (2) after grouping the observations of 12 periods, the efficiency of the new method is improved by up to 98% as the number of groups increases. The experimental results show that the new method can greatly improve the poor efficiency of the traditional combination method with guaranteed accuracy, especially when multiple SINEX files are combined, and provide a new solution for SINEX file combination.
