摘要
Environmental Monitoring is essential for understanding the water quality, particuarly on the emerging organic pollutants. Passive water sampling has several advantages over active methods: providing time weighted average (TWA) data, saves time and costs and can yield highly spatially resolved data. A novel passive water sampler (called o-DGT) for organic chemicals based on diffusive gradients in thin-films (DGT) has been developed[1] and tested[2] to overcome some drawbacks of current samplers, such as the hydrodynamic controls on the sampling rate. Since firstly introduced in our lab back to 2012, this sampler has been developed and validated for a wide range of emerging organic contamiants ( > 150), including pharmaceuticals and personal care product ingredients (PPCPs), house hold chemicals, pesticides, perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)[3], illicit drug[4], some persistent mobile and toxcit (PMT) chemicals[5, 6], etc. This technique can also be used to understand the chemial fate in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs)[7], in-stream fate within rivers[8], the potential free dissolved organic fraction[9]. Although o-DGT was developed for primarily for waters, this technique has been further applied to soils for in situ measurement of the concentrations and fluxes of antibiotics in soils[10] and for understanding the desorption kinetics from the soil particles together with the DIFS (DGT induced fluxes in soils) model[11]. With further development and calibration, o-DGT might be also be applicable to nontargert screening for all possible emerging organic pollutants, which will enhance our understnding of the whole picture of chemicals in aquatic environment. Overall, o-DGT is a promising tool for accessing the water qualiy.
