摘要
Purpose/Aim
Thermal ageing can accelerate the insulation damage of aviation electrical equipment. In order to establish an insulation lifetime model, partial discharge (PD) is an essential factor in measuring insulation damage. This work examines the impact of thermal ageing on PD of aerospace machine winding.
Experimental/Modeling methods
The wires used in the testing are polyimide film insulated winding wire and polyester film insulated winding wire which is 1 mm in diameter. These wires can operate for more than 20,000 hours without any insulation failures at temperatures from 180℃ to 220℃ and are rated 4800 V. The samples consist of one pair of twisted insulated wires. The ageing temperature is set at 300 ℃. One ageing cycle is 24 hours. The Standard PD test circuit and method described in IEC 60270 are used to evaluate the insulation condition of different thermal ageing level samples. The voltage was applied to the sample twisted wires using a high voltage amplifier controlled by a function generator. The peak-to-peak voltage of applied AC voltage ranges from 800 V to 1500 V at 50 Hz. The oscilloscope was used to acquire PD signals and applied AC voltage. Sampling frequency is set as20 MS/s.
Results/discussion
The phase-resolved partial discharge (PRPD) patterns results show that the PD inception voltage (PDIV) dropped from 920 V to 860 V. Furthermore, PD activity occurs in the phase ranges 15° to 90° and 180° to 270° with magnitudes up to 603 pC. After ageing, the wires eventually darkened with PD magnitude increasing up to 1810pC, three times that of the unaged sample.
Conclusions
According to the PRPD results, several features including PDIV and PD magnitude are extracted and synthesized as a failure precursor, which can be used as a parameter to identify insulation failure of thermal ageing insulation and establish a life model.
