The pollution accumulation characteristics of insulators are directly related to the flashover voltage. In this paper, for an inverted T‑type insulator string, the natural fouling state of the inverted T-type simulation string was detected after three years of hanging in the outdoor test site of the d-level pollution area. It is found that the average equivalent salt density of insulator tension part is about 59.0 % of its suspension part, and the average ash density is about 57.4 % of the latter.
