Effect of Expanding Rate in Cable Joint on Stress and Electric Field Distribution of Stress Cone

In order to study the influence of the expansion rate of cable joint on the internal stress and electric field distribution of stress cone, the model of 10 kV cable joint and RVE of stress cone are established by using COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software. The stress and electric field distribution of stress cone under different expansion rates are analyzed from macro and micro perspectives. The results show that the effects of the expansion in the cable joint is the greatest on the end of the stress cone. The larger the diameter expansion rate is, the more obvious the stress and electric field concentration near the end is. In the tensile state, "stress concentration band" and obvious "delamination" phenomenon will appear between the transversely arranged carbon black particles. The debonding damage is caused at the interface between carbon black particles and matrix when the tensile strength is too large. With the increasing of the expansion rate, the distance between the carbon black particles arranged longitudinally decreases, and the particles close to each other will form a conductive channel, resulting in local electric field concentration.
