Purpose/Aim

High temperature superconducting levitation has become an important application because of the novel passive stable characteristic. The stability of the levitation force is key to the operation of magnetic levitation system. The phenomenon of magnetic flux jump of superconductor will cause the working temperature of superconductor raised obviously. Then the suspension force will change rapidly,which affect the normal work of the system seriously. This paper studied the Influence of Ambient Temperature on Levitation Force of High Temperature Superconducting Levitation System Under Different Cooling Modes. And the mechanism of temperature effect on levitation characteristics is analyzed.

Experimental/Modeling methods

The simulation model of High temperature superconducting levitation based on Bean critical state model is established by Ansys. Firstly, the physical and geometric parameters of the superconducting stator and the permanent magnet rotor and the clearance are adjusted to optimize the levitation force characteristics of the levitation system. After stable running under different cooling mode, the change ratio of the average levitation force and the maximum levitation force was measured by changing the setting temperature, and the hysteresis effect of the levitation force curve was observed. Finally, the effect of temperature on the levitation force is studied based on the simulation results, and the effect of temperature fluctuation on the levitation system is obtained.

Results/discussion

In both cooling modes, the levitation force decreases with the increase of superconductor temperature. Then the temperature drops back and the final levitation force decreases slightly due to the hysteresis effect.

Conclusions

The influence of temperature variation caused by magnetic flux jump on the levitation characteristics of high temperature superconducting levitation is studied.it has certain guiding significance for the application of actual levitation system.
