Electrical treeing is one of the main degradation mechanisms of polymer dielectrics under highly divergent electric fields, and once electrical treeing channels bridge the insulator, once activated, it will lead to dielectric breakdown. One way to increase the anti-electric tree is to add certain organic additives, such as polycyclic aromatic compounds or benzophenone-like structures. These additives are thought to be voltage stabilizers that trap high-energy electrons and dissipate their energy, preventing the degradation of the polymer matrix due to the influence of hot electrons. In this study, the voltage stabilizer dibromoanthracene was added to the cross-linked polyethylene, and its insulating properties were tested. The experimental results showed that the addition of the voltage stabilizer effectively improved the electrical tree initiation of the cross-linked polyethylene. voltage, an increase of 37%, and can effectively inhibit the growth of electric trees. The calculation results of trap energy level show that the addition of voltage stabilizer reduces the trap depth of the blend, which is beneficial to suppress the accumulation of space charges in the material.
