To solve the flashover failure of the insulators of the disconnector caused by the droppings of birds flying over the disconnector or nesting, and to divide the risk areas.

In this paper, GW4 disconnector is taken as an example to analyze the influence of different phases, opening and closing, bird droppings diameter and drop direction of disconnector on the potential and electric field distribution around the insulator through finite element simulation, and the risk area is divided by SolidWorks modeling and ANSYS electric field simulation method.The results show that the bird droppings potential varies greatly when it is located in different directions of the insulator, and the flashover area is larger in the direction with the smallest potential. The area of bird droppings flashover occurred in the case of opening is larger than that in the case of closing. The risk area of phase in disconnector is larger than that of side phase. Finally, the risk area of bird droppings flashover failure of GW4 disconnector is drawn based on the simulation results.The results can solve the bird droppings flashover problem of post insulator for GW4 disconnector and provide a reference for the failure mechanism analysis of bird isolation and the optimization of bird prevention device.
