In the existing UHV AC projects in China, the low-voltage side shunt reactor of UHV Transformer adopts dry-type air core shunt reactor. However, in some special areas, such as high altitude areas, the use of dry-type air core shunt reactor is limited. Therefore, it is necessary to develop 110kV oil immersed shunt reactor. In terms of structure type, 110kV oil immersed shunt reactor can have several structures, such as single-phase structure, three-phase structure and combined type. This paper makes a comparative analysis from the aspects of equipment manufacturing technical difficulty, cost, transportation cost, land area, energy consumption and operation and maintenance cost. After comprehensive economic and technical comparison, it is concluded that using single-phase structure in UHV project has certain advantages. In terms of manufacturing difficulty, although the voltage level of the reactor is not high, it needs full insulation structure. In addition, the single-phase capacity reaches 80mvar. The temperature rise and local overheating control, vibration and noise control of the equipment need to be considered in the selection. This paper analyzes the key points of the design of 110kV oil immersed shunt reactor, and puts forward the solutions of local overheating control, vibration and noise control of the equipment.
