DC energy dissipation device and DC circuit breaker are the most effective ways to solve the fault ride-through problem and fault current limitation of wind farm in the new energy flexible DC transmission system. Therefore, a fusion device with two modes of fault ride-through and fault current limitation is proposed in this paper. The topology of the device and the control principle under each mode are clarified, and the design method of the electrical parameters of the device is studied. The electrical characteristics of the fusion device and its operation effect in the wind power integration project of the new energy system are verified by simulation. Compared with the traditional DC energy dissipation device and circuit breaker, the proposed fusion device has the flexible DC load characteristics with continuously adjustable resistance and the ability to quickly isolate the fault current. The influence of operation time on DC system is small and the economic cost of equipment is improved.
