Research and application of fault current limiting measures for high voltage lines

With the continuous expansion of power grid scale, especially the construction of new power system, the load density increases sharply, and the problem of system short-circuit current exceeding the standard is becoming more and more serious, threatening the safe operation of system and equipment. Firstly, this paper investigates and analyzes the research progress of 500kV / 80kA high-capacity circuit breaker, the research progress and engineering application of 220kV and 500kV 25ms fast circuit breaker, and the engineering application of 500kV AC fault current limiter. This paper makes a comparative analysis from the aspects of principle, key technology, reliability and economy, and finally comments on the three schemes.
