After the aging of the RTV coating fails, it not only fails to prevent pollution, but also affects the line operation and maintenance and grid security. It is important to remove aged RTV coatings. In this paper, laser cleaning technology is used to remove the aged RTV coating on the surface of pillar insulators. Through experiments, it is found that laser cleaning can preliminarily clean the RTV on the upper and lower surfaces of the insulator. The cleaning line width is 20mm. The laser travel speed is 6mm/s. Washing times 4 times. The power and frequency of the cleaning machine are both 31W/200Hz for the fourth time. Under the action of this parameter, the laser cleaning effect is the best. Laser cleaning will produce cleaning effect only when it reaches above the cleaning threshold. And the damage threshold cannot be exceeded. Otherwise, the substrate will be damaged, resulting in the destruction of the surface integrity of the substrate. The surface properties will also be degraded so that the usage requirements cannot be met.
