Liquid-solid contact triboelectric nanogenerator based on tubular structure for energy harvesting and self-powered sensing

Building a reliable micro-energy collection system is the key to solve the problem of wide-area distributed electrical equipment statusensor energy supply. Based on the principle of liquid-solid contact triboelectrification, this paper designs and fabricates a kind of tubular triboelectric nanogenerator which directly obtains the charge of friction layer, and overcomes the charge loss caused by electrostatic induction of traditional triboelectric nanogenerator. Firstly, the working principle of the liquid-solid triboelectric nanogenerator (LS-TENG) was verified by analyzing the variation of potential distribution in the process of friction charge transfer through multi-physical field coupling calculation. Then, the effects of flow rate, pipe length, pipe diameter and pipe material on the output characteristics of the nanogenerator are studied. Finally, the load capacity of the nanogenerator as a micropower is demonstrated. The results show that the output performance of LS-TENG is directly proportional to the flow rate, independent of the pipe length, inversely proportional to the pipe diameter, and directly proportional to the gain and loss of electron capacity of the pipe material. The system can light up about 40 LED beads at a flow rate of 610 mL /min. The research results provide a reference for optimizing the structure of tubular liquid-solid contact triboelectric nanogenerators and improving the output performance of nanogenerators.
