Online Measurement of Insulation Resistance in High Voltage Cable Sheath Based on Double CT Method

Purpose/Aim

Due to poor manufacturing process, installation defects and long-term bad operating conditions, high-voltage cable is easy to cause problems such as moisture and structural damage of high-voltage cable outer sheath. Under long-term operation, local defect points of high-voltage cable outer sheath will develop with time, resulting in the increase of defect points of high-voltage cable outer sheath, Thus, the failure of the outer sheath of high-voltage cable is formed, and the insulation is damaged to make the insulation fail in advance. Therefore, it is very necessary to measure the insulation level of the outer sheath of high-voltage cable for the operation and maintenance of high-voltage cable.

Experimental/Modeling methods

Therefore, it is very necessary to measure the insulation level of the outer sheath of high-voltage cable for the operation and maintenance of high-voltage cable.

Results/discussion

The simulation and experimental results show that this method can effectively measure the insulation resistance of the outer sheath of high voltage cable in a certain range.

Conclusions

The on-line measurement of insulation resistance of outer sheath of high-voltage cable proposed in this paper provides a new method for on-line monitoring of high-voltage cable line.
