Study on laser stripping method and surface properties of insulating shielding layer of high voltage cable

The installation defect of cable accessories is one of the main causes of high-voltage cable faults. The smoothness of the interface between the cable accessory and the insulation of the cable has an important impact on the installation quality and service life of cables. Aiming at the problems of high requirements for installers, low efficiency, and largely hidden defects in the traditional installation process of cable accessories, this paper puts forward the technology of laser stripping the insulation shielding layer of high-voltage cable, and its surface properties are studied.

Firstly, a 1064nm adjustable pulse laser cleaning device is used to peel off the insulating shielding layer of the high-voltage cable. Then, the surface condition of the sample is observed with a metallographic microscope, and the surface roughness is measured at the same time. Finally, the chemical composition of the surface of XLPE was measured by Fourier infrared spectroscopy, and the temperature field in the process of laser stripping cable insulation shielding was analyzed by finite element analysis.

Using appropriate laser cleaning technology to treat high-voltage cable will not cause oxidation damage or ablation damage to the surface of the cable insulation layer. In the process of stripping insulation shield, the main action mechanism of a laser is the vibration effect.

Laser stripping technology can be used to strip the insulation shielding layer of a high-voltage cable. Compared with the surface polished by traditional sandpaper, the stripped insulation surface of the high-voltage cable has lower surface roughness and a smoother surface.
