As one of the most used electrical equipment in the power system, overhead line insulator’s operating condition directly affects the safe operation of the grid. Under the influence of electricity, light, heat and stress, pollution and other factors, its insulation performance will get reduced, which causing surface flashover and even power outages. This situation seriously threatening the safe and stable operation of the power system. Especially in recent years, insulator pollution flashover accidents still exist in coastal and heavy pollution areas. With the construction of extra-high voltage grids, how to prevent pollution flashover is always the focus of research on transmission and distribution equipment.
