Traditional power systems still rely mainly on sensing units to monitor and protect electrical devices, but they are not sufficiently intelligent and are expensive. In recent years, non-contact measurement methods, such as epoxy resin temperature indication materials, have gradually attracted widespread interest in the industry. However, there are still limitations to its widespread use because of its temperature sensitivity, aging resistance and durability. The dye is used as the core and the urea-formaldehyde resin as the shell, while the thermosensitive microcapsules are synthesized by in situ polymerization. Moreover, TiO2 nanoparticles were selected for the functionalization of the coating in view of the durability of the material. The thermosensitive capsules are prepared with a dual color development function, with the low-temperature region being brown and the high-temperature region appearing as red. Compared to the original coating, the color difference between high and low temperatures is noticeable after the addition of titanium dioxide nanoparticles. A durable thermochromic coating was successfully obtained with a twofold color change and a colour change interval of 40℃. Excellent aging resistance of nano-TiO2 modified Thermo coatings: no chalking, blistering, flaking, cracking and other signs of aging even after 168 hours of artificial aging.
