摘要
“Sharing economics” as the recent trending word is step by step changed people’s daily life. The most famous application in transportation sector will be ridesharing. Ride-sharing service as the most popular transportation mode in people daily life nowadays attracts many discussions. Many researches cited ridesharing as an effective countermeasure for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. Despite many positive discussions, policy makers lack specific data to estimate tradeoffs and benefits of ridesharing service. This paper used taxicabs trip data in New York to simulate trip data from ridesharing company Uber. Data provided by New York Taxi & Limousine Commission in 2014 calendar year used to find travel patterns of ridesharing. Then based on modified dataset quantify green house gas emissions which including carbon dioxide and oxides of nitrogen and energy consumption. Through result of MOVES and Arc GIS software, ridesharing service has directly impact in reducing emissions and protect environment. Moreover, additional travel distance and time will not dramatically reduce ridesharing benefits on environment. MOVES model is used to estimate the GHG emissions rate and Arc GIS in this paper used to calculate shortest path. Keywords: ride-share; sustainable transport, shortest path
