Nowadays, the environmental concerns about the shortage of resources and the greenhouse gas emissions are growing, and the concept of low-carbon transportation and green logistics are slowly filtering into people's minds. Therefore, it has become a trend to apply electric logistics vehicles in the field of urban distribution. Based on Electric Vehicle Routing Problem (EVRP), the optimization of cargo distribution route is proposed in the paper. The constraints of battery capacity, cargo load, and time window are considered comprehensively. The corresponding mathematical model is formulated to seek the optimal route and the lowest cost of distribution. And a Genetic Algorithm (GA) based method is designed as the solution method of the model, so as to arrange a reasonable driving route for the enterprise's distribution vehicles. Numerical experiments are conducted using small-scale examples to evaluate the effectiveness of the method. The results of the operation verify that it is feasible and effective to solve the vehicle path planning problem with the Genetic Algorithm. Finally, the sensitivity analysis of the electric vehicle's loading capacity and charging rate show that the total cost decreases significantly with the increase of the loading capacity, and the increase of the charging rate helps to reduce the objective function value.
