DC fault blocking methods are mainly divided into DC circuit breaker and fault blocking converter. If the DC distribution network continues to adopt the high-voltage DC network and multi terminal DC topology, a large number of DC circuit breakers are required, which has the problems of high economic cost, large operation and maintenance workload and so on. For example, in Hangzhou intelligent flexible DC distribution network demonstration project, the cost of DC circuit breaker is about 35% of the cost of converter. The fault blocking converter realizes the rapid isolation of the fault point by blocking the energy feed path of the AC transverse fault point and combining with the DC fast switch. In DC distribution network, the scheme of fault blocking converter without DC circuit breaker is more suitable. However, DC distribution network technology without DC circuit breaker is generally in its infancy, and there are some key problems to be solved. One of them is how to realize fault ride through in DC distribution network without DC circuit breaker. The fault ride through technology of block converter and energy storage system is the cutting-edge direction. Overcoming this problem is of great significance to the development of DC distribution network. Studying the topology and operation mechanism of blocking converter and constructing DC distribution network without DC circuit breaker will reduce the cost of DC distribution network and improve the economy of DC distribution network. Study the rapid fault recovery technology of DC distribution network and the energy storage coordination technology during converter locking, so as to realize the uninterrupted power supply of load, ensure the rapid recovery of normal operation of DC distribution system, and help improve the power supply reliability of DC distribution network. The successful development of DC distribution network fault detection and ride through technology without DC circuit breaker will improving the competitiveness of related industries.
