Analysis of dual-function thermoelastic cloak based on coordinate transformation theory

In past years, the cloak of various physical fields has attracted wide attention of many scientists. But the coupling effect between different physical fields is hardly taken into account. In this paper, based on coordinate transformation theory, we deduce the form of thermoelastic wave equation of the cloak and give the explicit expression of material parameters. The influence of coupling effect on the dual-function cloak and traditional one is compared. The scattering characteristics caused by parameter discontinuity in layered structure are analyzed. Moreover, the relative merits of single and dual-function cloak are discussed. It is found that the traditional elastic cloak may fail due to the heat concentration caused by the thermoelastic coupling. This could be significantly improved under the dual-function design for thermal and elastic cloak, although the performance of the elastic cloak is weakened to a certain extent. The work in this paper can pave a way to the design of perfect cloak, and broaden the research scope for the metamaterial.
