Organophosphorus compounds have found widespread applications in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and materials science, and their synthesis is of paramount importance in organic chemistry. Therefore, the construction of carbon-phosphorus bonds, especially the C(sp3 )-phosphonylation, is an important research area in organic chemistry. Traditional phosphonylation methods are limited to nucleophilic and electrophilic phosphonylation reactions, while the phosphonylation of alkyl radicals remains elusive and lack industrial application value. Li group has conducted in-depth research in this direction, and was the first to report the copper-catalyzed coupling reaction of alkyl radicals and trialkyl phosphites, and then developed a series of new strategies for visible light-induced free radical phosphonylation reactions. The research results have great industrial application prospects.
