Tin-bronze (QSn 6.5-0.1) coating was prepared on the surface of TA17 titanium alloy through plasma transfer arc cladding. The effects of plasma arc currents on the microstructure and properties of the coatings were investigated. Results showed that the microstructure of tin bronze claddings had the characteristics of rapid solidification. With the increase of cladding current, the number of striped dendrites in the coating increases, while the number of cellular dendrites decreased. The tin bronze coating was mainly composed of α(Cu,Sn), Cu10Sn3. When the cladding current increases from 30A to 45A, the hardness of the coating decreases from 325HV0.2 to 283HV0.2. According to the microhardness, the optimized plasma arc to deposit tin bronze on TA17 substrate was 30A.
