The WC-10Co-4Cr coatings modified with different content of nano-addtives including some REEs were prepared by high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying technique on the substrate of steel 45. Optical microscopy (OM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were employed to examine the microstructure and phase of coatings. Vickers hardness and wear test was carried out. The results show that the addition of nano-addtives decreased the coating porosity, and restrained the formation of decarburization phase of W2C, therefore increased the coating hardness. The wear weight loss and frictional coefficient indicate that the addition of nano-addtives into WC-10Co-4Cr coatings promoted the wear resistance.
